Accused murderer ducked out of halfway house, prosecutor says

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli confirmed a CLIFFVIEW PILOT report that an ex-con accused of strangling his ex-girlfriend and then ramming her car into a police cruiser was out on parole when the crimes occurred.

David Goodell was taken late Sunday night from a Newark halfway house to UMDNJ Medical Center after suffering a seizure. Soon after, "Goodell absconded," Molinelli said, and a parole warrant was issued.

Hours later, Goodell met up with 21-year-old Viviana Tulli at a mutual friend's house in Elmwood Park.

They were in her car when he strangled her, and was standing outside the 2007 Nissan Versa when a 911 caller reported seeing him bloodied and disoriented.

When Ridgefield Park Police showed up, he peeled out, the prosecutor said.

Goodell is being held on $2 million bail at the Bergen County Jail.

According to the victim's sister, Stella Tulli: "David was still serving time at a halfway house when he fake[d] a seizure and was taken to [the] hospital. The police didn't know who he was until AFTER his arrest."

	... every time I see my sister's name in print and this lowlife's picture, my heart breaks more.. I cannot believe his list of crimes and still paroled early.. good job parole board! you should be proud!
