Snooki of MTV's 'Jersey Shore' busted in Seaside

Moments after falling off a bicycle on the boardwalk, the human fire hydrant known as "Snooki" of MTV's "Jersey Shore" was arrested on a disorderly persons charge after hassling people on the beach.

Camera crews and idol worshippers shouting, "We love you!" followed 22-year-old Nicole Polizzi -- a South American of adoptive parents from Poughkeepsie -- and her uniformed escort.

She was wearing a hot-pink tiger-print T-shirt that said "I Heart Snooki," sunglasses, a miniskirt and hot green slippers.

Is it pure coincidence that, after last night's second season drew 5.3 million viewers, that a member of the overhyped crew ended up falling on other people on the beach while the third season is being taped? Or is she really that much of a mess?

When the cops showed up around 3:30 this afternoon, Polizzi acted up enough to be taken into custody, according to an official statement. She was later released on a summons. A Municipal Court judge will assess a fine at an appearance; the date wasn't disclosed.

Just one day after the premiere of the drama-filled second-season premiere of "Jersey Shore," one of the show's biggest stars, Snooki, was arrested in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, where the show is currently filming, MTV News confirmed.
