This comes the same day that authorities announced that they'd broken up a dogfighting ring -- in Philadelphia.
SPCA enforcement officers said they discovered two dead pit bulls in the back of the house and five other injured dogs.
"The same man who just left a federal jail on felony counts involving the torturing and death of animals is about to reenter center stage," Torricelli writes on PolitckerNJ.com. "That's quite a message about the state of our culture and the role that NFL wants to play in our lives."
Michael Vick
"He trained dogs to maul and maim each other until death," the former Senator wrote. "When he was disappointed in them, he hung them by the neck. Their torture became a means of his entertainment."|
"Let the Eagles make their choice. You should make yours.
Bob Torricelli
"Decent people should have no part in this charade."

Use the situation to our advantage I am a life long Eagles fan and was not happy about the signing of Michael Vick. It didn't make sense to me from any perspective. But, as a dog lover (I own 2), I think this is an opportunity to use the situation to save dogs. If Vick is truly as proactive as he promised, the opportunity to save the lives of many dogs is huge. Imagine the difference in attendance and response at an inner city youth center between these 2 scenarios: 1) Some guy from the Humane Society schedules a talk about how bad dog fighting is. 2) Michael Vick, Pro Bowl Quaterback comes to the center to give a talk to youth about the evils of dog fighting. If you are a dog lover, you need to get past his past but continue scrutiny to make sure the follow through to the committment is there. |

BRAVO!!!!! Bravo, Mr. Toricelli! You are absolutely correct. Vick is a ruthless, cold-hearted, sociopathic dog torturer and murderer who actually admitted to LAUGHING while he and his equally demented and disgusting pals drowned, hanged and electrocuted innocent dogs who were struggling and screaming in pain. And this guy is "entitled" to a second chance? This monster "deserves" the priviledge of making millions of dollars a year and acting as role model for children? This scumbag p.o.s. simply "made a mistake" and his slate should be wiped clean because he practiced really hard at acting sincere and delivered his PR talking points on national television? I think not. The only thing that Vick deserves is to be strung up and beat to death. Inner city thugs who are following in their "hero" Vick's footsteps are not simply going to turn around and stop fighting dogs because Vick delivers some lame forced comments to them. They know that Vick is only saying he's "sorry" because he's being forced to. He's only "sorry" because he got caught. He could care less about the dogs he brutally tortured and murdered. No one needs Vick to deliver his forced crap to inner city youth. What we need is tougher laws. Anyone caught fighting or murdering dogs -- whether they are minors or not, should get 25 to life. Period. No second chances. Then maybe these little scumbags would think twice before they started down this path. |
