"Time and time again, it is YOU, the citizen… the public… who are instrumental in apprehending such dangerous fugitives through your concern and timely information," said James T. Plousis, the U.S. Marshal for New Jersey.
It's unclear whether the quick capture set a record for the show, but tips began coming in immediately after this Saturday's "America's Most Wanted" episode aired. Before dawn, the 5-foot-tall Alvarado was behind bars in Seminole County, Florida, awaiting extradition.

Alvarado, 28, had been living under the alias “Nelson T. Holliday” in an apartment in Sanford, Florida, where, police said, he had a job as a telemarketer and was selling sneakers out of the back of his car.
Alvarado had done time for holding up a grocery store 10 years ago when the August 2006 shootings occurred. As in the past, he was wearing bandages over what authorities said was a gruesome birthmark when they nabbed him.
Five separate callers sent U.S. Marshals and Florida authorities to the apartment, where Alvarado was arrested at 2 a.m. He faces four counts of attempted murder and weapons offenses.
"God" in his DJ days
The victims, three women and a man, were all shot in the parking lot of the Route 9 eatery in Sayreville. They were identified as Victoria Mierzejewski, 20, of Matawan; Shukir London, 26, of Sayreville; Asia London, 19, and Jodi Packan, 20, both of Old Bridge.
