They didn't fly to the moon, but the graduates of Oneida's Dance Studio owned it during the studio's 43rd Anniversary Gala.
I was backstage at the Park Performing Arts Center in Union City, and I could see tears in the eyes of other parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles during Sunday night's event. It indeed takes a family to produce such talent.
The young ladies, meanwhile, were thrilled to shine, displaying agility and grace in the Art of Dance -- from ballet to musical theater, from flamenco, tap and jazz to hip-hop and Afro-Cuban, from rumba to salsa.

Responsible for the program were Director Oneida Quevedo and Co-Director Julissa Cueto Petrone, as well as several talented faculty members.
One could only dream, as these talented young ladies showed their stuff, of a performance someday on Broadway, or at Radio City Music Hall, in Lincoln Center, even -- or a Beyonce video!

Even if they simply hang their pointes in the closet, they will have the distinction of having mastered the Art of Dance as a graduate of Oneida's Dance Studio.

... Congratulations to these beautiful and talented girls. Oneida's Dance Studio is a great institution of dance, one that I remember fondly as a little girl. I had dreams of one day becoming a student as a child, but unfortunately my parents could not afford dance classes, saxophone and art for all four children. It's okay though, I can rip it on the dance floor...not as gracefully as these girls but I have fun pretending! |
